I knew coming into this week which rides ill be doing and what type of efforts ill be ask to do. Today leaving the hotel I felt dame good. I pulled pretty much 45min with Mike Creed up the hill to Pinos Altos. Brad Hoff is under the weather so he turned back and Mike Creed had a double day so after 2 hours he turned back. So that left Mike Freedman and myself for a nasty hilly day. I have to say, they weather was perfect, 65, no wind and clear blue skies. The next climb would take about 30min. I did it in 28min. The goal for me was to keep my adv watts at 300-320. I did not accomplish that, I finished at 298 adv watts. I felt stronger and a whole lot smoother. Freedman saw the 1/4 mile sign to the top and picked up the pace. I knew i had to fight so I dug so deep into something I have never dug into (on a hill) and i caught him. My body felt numb and my hand were shaking out of control.
We pulled over where Allen Lim had some food for us and cold drinks. We turned around to head home and the plan for riding back was to have short efforts on the climbs. I took a beating on the first climb and came back strong on the second climb. Mike attacked me and then it was on. We attacked each other all the way to the top of the final climb. It hurt, but it was fun and it gave me more confidence to ride harder going up hill.
Allen pulled us over to see our max watts on the efforts. Mike was 1300 and I was 1200. So now we are about 1hr 1/2 away from home and it home moderate climb home before the long boring down hill. So we just cruised it in eating and drinking thinking about tomorrow.
Speaking of tomorrow, we are doing the same ride but, we will add another climb.

That is was they are trying to do. They are not trying to turn me into a stage racer, however they are working on having the same finish in a 5-6hr race as I would in a 2hr race.
I do feel like I’m getting better. It’s tough training at altitude. Its more than what people think. You use so much more and in the first 7-10 days you cant sleep or even breath right.
I'm home in Los Angeles now and I leave Monday for San Fran. There will be 10 guys there and only 8 get to race tour of Ca. We will ride stage 1&2 and who ever looks the best will ride the race. I hope I have what it takes.
Also I highly recommend any team/persons to go and train in Silver City. The rides are great!!!
Cheers man
