Im Tired

I’m so tired...I feel like throwing my bike away. It’s been a hard 2 weeks for me, training more than ever and trying to be a pro at everything I do. I'm not going out, I'm not going to bed late, I'm not eating the wrong things. I feel good about what I’m doing but my body feels bad. So after coach Lim see my excel sheet, I guess he will determine if I get a slight break.

The New Year is approaching very fast. We have a track camp here in LA the 2nd week of Dec, then from LA to Colorado for a road mini camp with the whole team. By that time, it’s Christmas and then the New Year. That leaves me about 20 days until I fly over to Qatar to race a bunch a hump backs. Then Tour of California. I hope we roll through Compton.

I have to go...Ayahna is crying

Sunday's Ride

Today was a pretty hard ride covering about 100 miles with 35 miles of climbing. I felt pretty good and road every climb at the front. Its one guy on these rides that deserves to be on a pro team. I hear he's a former Tri-Geek but he is so strong. I think his name is Rudy. Ill get more info on him. His better than most of these so call climbers in the USA.

My friend Greg was hit by some red neck down in the hills of Santa Monica Mt. And the fool cut him off, then came back for more. He did it again and also threw some stuff at Greg. He speed off and that was it. About 15min later we made a pit stop and guess who we see...That's right the guy in the 1981 red nissan sentra. This time he had his dad with him. Things got really hot very fast but being the good guy I am, I broke it up and told my guys just to let the cops handle it. We would have for sure beat this guy down...Him and his dad. This is funny too. The dad started to call people that was hanging out the store and they got up, but never walked over, because it was like 20 of us and 4 of them. I took my front wheel off just in case I had to hit someone with it.

November 19th

Today in cali had a high of 75 and it was clear. So clear that you can see from Palos Verdes (pv) to Malibu. I did a cool group ride thats all year long named "the doughnut ride" Its pretty cool. It starts at the base of pv and go all around climbing up and down and through San Pedro back to pv. Today a little group broke off and went climbing more. When I got home I had about 5hrs with about 1 1/2 of climbing.
This pic here to your left is the group heading south through pv about to hit the first climb. The picture does it no justice to how nice it was today. It must sucks to leave in cold weather with no oceans and palm trees.

George on the climb taking it easy with me

There was a "Kids Run LA" it was about 10 thousand kids out running. It was great to see these lazy kids out.

November 15th

These last two days have been really cool, really easy on the bike enjoying the California weather. My friends down in Indiana at IU are having a tuff time. The weather is shitty.

I have been in contact with you young man from Va, who is seeking some training advice from other sources beside his "coach" I really commend him for that because, like daddy always said, there is always more than one way to get some where.
This kid is 16 years old racing age 17 and his coach has him ridding 6-8 hours a week.
He also said he should do his endurance workouts on the rollers instead of hitting the road.

I just had to get that off my chest, it really baffled me why he would tell a 17 years old kid to train 6-9 hours a week, where the guys he has to race are training 20+ hours.

I just bought Madagascar for my daughter and she’s watching it right now,
I think I got her hooked. Her all time favorite had been Nemo and Incredibles. Between the two DVD’s I think we have watched them about 100 times. I don’t think that’s good. Maybe all have Dr.Eric Saunders give me some parenting advice. www.ericsaunders.com

Novembers Update

The last three weeks if training has been a humbling experience for me. I now have a great road coach who is guiding me along and already it seems to be working. I have put in more miles and hours on the bike in the last three weeks then I did all of last year in 4 months. It was hard to get out on the 4th days and do another 5hr but once I was done…it felt great.

I was out in the Santa Monica Mountains and I saw some guys who new me and they couldn’t believe that I was on this 8-mile climb. I never new that you can learn so much by riding along.

Last Wednesday we had some heavy rain and I got out on my bike anyways and did 4 hours down the coast through Malibu and its pretty scary to have cars and trucks fly pass you when the ground is wet and buckets of rain blasting you.

I also incorporated some weight training into my daily regiments and I love it.
I look forward to going to the gym. It’s a pretty cool gym. Erving “magic” Johnson open a 24hour fitness and its one of the best gyms in the area.

For the most part California is sunny and full of fun, hard, fast, long group rides. I did a 5 hour group ride yesterday with about 60 guys. We went through the Santa Monica mountains…and would you believe I was the 5th guy up the climb.
I’m going to become a mountain goat, so you better watch out.

I’m out…
